About Franwell
Who We Are
We are the new standard in food related software. Franwell, a Florida Corporation, established as in June of 1993, to provide for the development and marketing of software for the agricultural produce/food industry. Since then we've expanded our products and services to offer radio frequency identification systems integration.
Where We've Been and Where We're Going
Prior to teaming up with Ernie Francise and John Stephens, Jeff Wells started Horizon Computer Systems in 1984. Our executive trio, entrepreneurs as well as software engineers, established Franwell Corporation/Franwell Software, Inc. in 1993. Although reorganized, Franwell has continued to build upon the customer relationships originally established with Horizon Computer Systems. Our home office is located in Plant City, Florida. The combined years of experience in the perishable foods industry, as well as computer technologies, enables Franwell to maintain a leading edge perspective.
While RFID technology is new to many in the produce food industry, it is not new to Franwell. More than ten years ago Jeff Wells, our CEO, was researching and developing RFID systems; however, implementation was too costly at that time, as the technology was considered too futuristic. Now the future envisioned by Jeff Wells has arrived and nearly every industry leader recognizes that RFID technology is definitely a part of it. Instead of playing catch-up, Franwell is ready to go forward offering the most beneficial advances for our clients and partners.
Our Agware integrated logistics and supply chain software system meets the needs of clients from growers, packers, shippers, and brokers, to retail food distributors. Agware was designed with a solid firsthand working knowledge of the agricultural/produce food industry and we continue to update Agware functionality using the best new development tools available. A tremendous expenditure of time has been invested in learning how our clients operate their agribusinesses and understanding their specific needs.
Professional Partnerships
We are currently engaged in projects with the University of Florida Center for Food Distributing and Packing to test extensively the use of radio frequency identification technology as it relates to each link of the food supply chain. This is the most expansive scientific testing of its kind designed specifically for its impact on the food industry.In addition to contributing to the development of the RFID lab at the University of Florida, at our Franwell headquarters we have our own RFID lab where we not only test, but also can demonstrate for our clients how RFID integrates with our enterprise software system.

Franwell is development company dedicated to offering systems integration services as well as both client/server and Internet-deployed financial and logistical systems to the food industry. The company’s target markets are packaged frozen foods wholesale/distribution, fresh fruits and vegetables wholesale/distribution and food processing/manufacturing. We want to build our company around long-term relationships with our clients centered on partnering with them. This gives us an incentive to provide them with systems and ideas that will directly affect the success of their business. The keys to this concept are providing ways for the client to pay for this resource through growth and for Franwell to maintain a high competence level in innovative concepts and technology.
