Why
TestIt?
Before using the
Franwell software product you wish to purchase, it is necessary to know
that your computer system has the capability of properly running the
program. TestIt is Franwell's full
system analyzer that will test your computer's performance with the
required standards.
In less than two
minutes you can determine whether your system passes the test or fails.
If it fails in only one or a few areas, you can determine what needs
to be done to bring it up to the desired performance level. If it fails
in every way, you'll want to get a new computer that will do the job
so you can successfully use the new software products Franwell designed
to enhance your particular business operations.
In spite of how
user-friendly TestIt is, a printed
manual and online help are provided, as well as context sensitive help.
These documents should answer any questions you may have about the individual
tests and what the results mean to you.
All
Test Results
Your system is tested
for CPU type and speed, identifying folders, and the presence of a mouse.
Memory is tested for a variety of factors, including total, load percent,
available, and virtual page size. The system either passes or fails.
There are detailed tests results for your fixed and network system drive(s)
speed and available space. The video system is tested for resolution
and color depth. In addition to stating how many megabytes of space
are free, the word "Passed" indicates that the free space available
and/or the speed is sufficient.

Standard
Requirements for Your PC
Please be aware
that the following information is only an example of what you might
see when you run TestIt
on your computer. For CPU Speed to be "True" it must provide
a minimum of 486 CPU. Mouse "True" indicates the presence of a mouse;
"False" indicates no mouse is present. RAM is simply referred to as
memory, and the abbreviations correspond to the fields listed on the
Memory screen, which represent the amount loaded, the physical total,
the physical amount available, the page total and the page amount available.
The minimum amount of fixed space required is 300 MB, at least eight
bits per pixel is required for a color display and the resolution should
be 307200, i.e., 640 x 480 twips per pixel. Net Time it takes to copy
the information should be one second.
The standards shown
in our example figures might not reflect the requirements for your particular
PC.
The All Test
screen is the only one with a print option, which is characterized
by the printer icon button.
Specific
Operating System Information

In addition to
version, number, and type details provided, the raw speed and normal
speed breakdown is available when the CPU field is double-clicked.
You can quickly
see the difference between the total RAM and the available RAM.
Fixed
Drive Information
You may have
only one or you may have three or more fixed hard drives. The text
box indicates how much free space is available on each of the fixed
drives and shows the test result.
Video
Display Information
The number of color
bits per pixel and the resolution indicate how clear and brightly colored
your screen images appear, as well as the size of images. Lower resolution
yields larger images; higher resolution yields smaller images.
Video
Detail Information
The Info
button allows you to view a chart with Color Depth, Resolution,
Bits Per Pixel and Frequency details. Your own computer settings are
highlighted.
Network
Information
The label Network
is Available indicates the presence of at least one Network Protocol.
All of your fixed and network drives are listed. The text box to the
right of the network drive selected indicates the amount of free space
available on that drive. What is actually tested is the drive speed.
At the base of the screen the outcome of your test, Passed or
Failed, is given.
